This week Lila Iké came out of the closet nonchalantly by saying, “so what if am into women?”

The Reggae singer ‘coming out’ on her Twitter account shocked fans. Ike claimed that someone was blackmailing her about her lesbian affairs and chose to open up to the public before she got exposed.

Ike also claimed that she has been sexually violated by men and now her sexual preference is women, a choice that might is often frowned upon in the Reggae/Dancehall and Jamaica overall.

“So what if am into women? My music isn’t real?” She tweeted two nights ago.

“Men have done nothing but break me. And my mom and my grandmother,” she also said in another tweet.

“I’ve been raped”, “Molested”.

“I am Lila Ike I am into women and I’ve been making reggae music.”

“Now they are literally trying to stop me on the road…If pictures are released I said it here,” Ike said in other tweets.

Lila Iké is the first woman in Reggae/Dancehall to openly declare she’s a lesbian

“They have been trying to kill me Day 1. Reggae music will never die even if a girl who loves woman is singing it,” she shared an Instagram Story.

Another female Jamaican artist Jada Kingdom also revealed she’s a lesbianas well. Her decision to come out the closet was inspired by Lila Ike’s decision to announce her sexual preference.

Jada claimed she came out to her mom. She was initially nervous but according Kingdom her mom said that she always knew.

“some of you already know this but… i don’t give a ounce of f**k!” Jada tweeted.

That is so because you guys sing about man but not think about stiff hood🙄

  2. What message is it sending to the youth? To be themselves.

This article should have been condemning men who sexually violate, rape and molest women.
The energy, not necessarily this article, but in Instagram comments is misdirected. People are condemning Lila when they should be condemning the men who did her wrong
