There are a number of photographs by Reverend Baillie in the collection, and many appeared in the pages of the “Foreign Field. The earliest Wesleyan mission began in the West Indies when, in 1786, Thomas Coke, destined for Nova Scotia, was driven off course by a storm and landed at Antigua in the British West Indies. There he developed a successful mission of both slaves and landowners. Within a few years almost every colony in the West Indies had been reached.
