Jamaica boasts itself in producing the best coffee in the world. With a rigorous selection process, fertile soil, and an ideal climate in the high altitude blue mountain, it is easy to see why Jamaica produces the best coffee in the world.

Jamaican coffee grown in the Blue Mountain region is governed by JACRA – Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority. JACRA’s mission is to regulate the operation of free and fair trade while ensuring all coffee that is produced and exported under the blue mountain umbrella are properly supervised to ensure that the quality of the coffee beans is always at their standards.

  1. We know that Blue Mountain Coffee goes through a strict process to select the finest
    beans but many people wonder if the process is as strict as they claimed.

    As influential as ever, every barrel of coffee must go through JACRA for quality control where the green coffee is rigorously inspected before it is exported. This can take time and cause delays, but the quality is paramount and strictly controlled, ensuring that all Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee leaving Jamaica is of the highest quality. Furthermore, JACRA sets strict standards for the growing, harvesting, processing, and marketing of the coffee, making sure that the end result is always an excellent cup of coffee. Therefore, Jamaica Blue Mountain remains ever-elusive, luxurious, treasured, and delicious. Only barrels that are inspected by JACRA are recognized as 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. 100% Blue Mountain Coffee is graded into Blue Mountain No. 1-3, Peaberry, and Selective. Other grades of Jamaican coffee include High Mountain Supreme, Jamaican Prime, and Jamaican Select. We only import 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain No.1 coffee and are labeled to show the grade of the coffee in our packaging.

2. If the process is as strict as they claimed, why is it necessary for the process to be
so strict, is this rigorous process over-hyped?

I believe this rigorous process is mandatory to keep the highest quality possible.

3. What brought you into the coffee business?
I’ve always been a coffee fanatic and had interest in quality and rare coffees. When I was
given an opportunity to import one the most sought after coffee, I invested my time and
resources to make this happen.

4. I consider myself a coffee connoisseur, I have tried many good as well as bad coffee.
I’ve realized that most, if not all, instant coffee taste horrible. Do you think it is
possible to achieve a high or medium quality from producing instant coffee or
should coffee drinkers stick to buying coffee beans for better quality?
If you like drinking the highest quality coffee, grinding small quantities of freshly roasted beans just before drinking, is the best way to go. Instant coffee can’t guarantee the freshness of the roast and the grind.

5. To conclude on a lighter note, as you know I love coffee and drink it daily, my favorite
blend is light then medium. My question to you is do you drink coffee and if so what
blend do you like, light, medium, medium-dark or dark?
