St. Lucia is another Caribbean dream destination with all the amenities one can dream for. Crystal clear beaches, white sand, and fun-loving people. St. Lucian cuisine is a mixture of African, Arawak, and French food combined in one.

Filled with color full fruits and vegetables and various spices, this island is full of life. Cruise ships frequent the island and tourism plays a big role in the economy.

Today I will share the top Lucian foods. This list is done in no particular order.

1. Lambi

Lucians are crazy over this dish made of conch and creole spices. Many Caribbean countries eat conch but few seasoned it the way St. Lucia does.

2. Bouyon

This dish is a large pot of soup. The soup contains; sweet potatoes, pumpkin, yams, pork, or any meat variations. Complete this dish with some kind of hot pepper sauce to raise the flavor.

3. Accra

This dish is equal to Jamaica’s Salt-fish Fritters but with a twist. Instead of the usual flat fritters, Accra is rolled in a ball seasoned well and deep-fried.

4. Pepper Pot

Like the Guyanese Pepper Pot Stew, this dish is very similar and convenient. Whatever leftovers are there from the previous meal can be used to make this decadent meal.

5. Bakes

Many other Islands like Trinidad, Guyana, and Barbados make bakes. Bakes are what Jamaicans call Fry Dumplings. This meal is usually made for breakfast and can be paired with; saltfish, callaloo, eggs, liver, etc.

6. Green Figs & Saltfish

This is St. Lucia’s national dish. Figs (bananas) is the biggest export for the Island and is the base of this delicious dish.

7. Callaloo Soup

This dish has its origins in Africa. The base of this soup contains coconut milk and can be made with okras and potatoes.
