Jamaica may not be the most violent country in the world or have the highest murder rates, but behind those crystal lakes and glamorous beaches there is another side to Jamaica. I will share the 10 most ways to die in Jamaica.
1. Being Too Trusting Of Friends & Family
Being trusting can be a beautiful thing in a more perfect world but let’s face it, the world is far from perfect. Oftentimes friends and family members plot to kill their own. Whether it is because of bad-mind or a grudge they have been secretly holding for years, your friends and family are to be loved from a distance.
2. Bad-mind
Every Jamaican knows what being bad minded is; it is what Black Americans call being a Hater. A badmind person will hate you for what you have, they envy your wealth and success. Such a person will kill or get you killed because their jealousy is so much that they want you gone.
3. Badman
Not to be confused with badmind a “badman” is a gangster “gangsta” who has a reputation of being ruthless and violent. If you offend him or rub him the wrong way your lights may be put out.
4. Robbers
The Island is full to the brim with criminals who are looking for an easy meal. Most robbers do not want a challenge and if you give them one you might be killed.
5. Motor Vehicle Accidents
Jamaica has a very high accident rate. Many drivers drive recklessly causing the crash statistics to be high. When on the roads drive defensively as much as possible. If there is an aggressive driver behind you signal for them to go around you.
6. Drowning
Jamaica is scattered with beautiful beaches. Many times people are enjoying themselves so much that they forget to be safe. Many people have drowned due to strong currents pulling them away or by being too intoxicated in the water.
7. Returning Residents
Many returning residents want to retire in peace, in their hometown, but badmind people are constantly on the lookout for easy opportunities, and a returning resident is a quick meal for them. Many returning residents have been killed in attempted robbery or over land disputes by even their own friends and family. Returning residents, be aware.
8. Crocodile Attacks
Though crocodile attacks are not as high as the other categories on the list, I will place it here because there is a rise in crocodile attacks. There have been several videos circulating on social media showing crocodiles swimming with dead bodies in lakes. Crocodiles have also been known to target fishermen.
9. Abductions
There are also kidnappings, people are normally kidnapped by criminals hoping to get a ransom. Many times they do not get a ransom and they kill their victims. Other times kidnappers want money or sex from their victims, often times they kill them after the kidnapping.
10. Rapist
Rape is very high on the Island, and many times rapists kill their victim because they do not want to be identified.
