Authentic Jamaican Jerk Chicken Recipe that you must try. This recipe tackles multiple ways of cooking jerk chicken.

Ingredients

With Homemade Jerk Marinade

  • 1 1/4 pound chicken
  • 4 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup Homemade Jerk Chicken Marinade
  • 1/2 cup vinegar

Without Homemade Marinade

  • 1 cube maggie chicken bouillon
  • 3 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 whole medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon jerk seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon browning
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Instructions 

  • Add vinegar and water to a bowl then wash chicken thoroughly. After washing, drain the chicken and pat dry with a paper towel or clean cloth.

  • Pour homemade marinade over chicken and let it sit for 15 minutes or more. If you have no home-made marinade use grace or walkerswood jerk seasoning along with onion, soy sauce, cinnamon, maggie cube, browning, and brown sugar.

Grilling Instructions

  • Place chicken on a grill, turn chicken once it starts to brown. Occasionally brush chicken with leftover marinade or water to prevent it from becoming dry.

Oven Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place chicken in the oven and bake for 30 – 40 minutes
  • Brush chicken every 8 minutes to keep it from drying out.

Notes

Notes: if you have no homemade marinade, you can use your favorite jerk chicken seasoning, I recommend Zaxby's Caribbean jerk sauce, Grace Foods, or Walkerswood Seasoning.
When using jerk seasoning I advise using no more than 2 tablespoons, jerk seasonings have strong flavors, and using too much will overpower the dish.
