Steam Cabbage

Cabbage is very healthy and promotes good gut health. Cabbage can be steamed, cooked or boil. Boil cabbage makes a healthy Vegetable Soup,and steam cabbage makes the most delicious breakfast recipe.

Equipment

  • Dutch Pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 whole whole large cabbage
  • 2 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 1 spring scallion
  • 1 whole small onion (or half a medium onion)

Instructions 

  • Slice or shred cabbage into small to medium sizes.
  • Set heat to low
  • Add onion to the pot and stir. Once the onion is caramelized, remove it from the pot.
  • Add shredded cabbage to the pot and turn up the fire to medium.
  • Add a pinch or two of salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Stir for 2 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover pot, and let the cabbage steam for 5 to 8 minutes or until it is firm but edible.
  • Please note the cabbage must not be too soft or hard.
  • Taste and add salt and black pepper if needed.
  • Turn off heat and serve
